  • About Granite Ridge

Granite Ridge is located in the heart of Milton. You can play the course seven days a week.

Granite Ridge offers 2 challenging 18 hole layouts. Each will challenge both the experienced and beginner golfer.

Our Ruby course is a Par 70 layout that can play up to 5900 yards from the Blue Tees. Water comes into play on 14 of the 18 holes on the Ruby course. The term Risk/reward best describes this course that begins with a short but challenging 1st hole where the player must decide on laying up or attempting to carry the large pond on the left side of the hole. The par 5 4th hole is heavily guarded with trees and fairway bunkers on your 1st and 2nd shots while the pond behind the green will rinse any balls that carry too far on your approach shot. The par 3 9th hole plays up to 174 yards with trees on either side of the green and a large pond in the back. The par 4 11th hole is another risk/reward type of hole. A long tee shot leaves a short iron approach to the green but be careful of the ponds on the left and right as you hit your tee shot. Our par 3 17th hole is truly one the most beautiful holes on the golf course as its nestled underneath the Niagara Escarpment. It features a pond and bunkers in front with a menacing hazard behind the green. An accurate tee shot is a must here.

The Ruby course is fair but challenging to even the most seasoned golfer.

  • About Junior Worlds

In 1968, the San Diego Junior Golf Association founded the Junior World Golf Championship to connect young golfers from all parts of the world. Not only was our goal to provide youth with a premier golf experience, but we dreamed that the championship would build greater understanding among people of different cultures and values.

In its inaugural year, the event attracted 475 junior golfers from seven countries and 20 states. Today, the tournament has grown to 1250 participants, representing 56 countries and 42 states. The IMG Academy Junior World Golf Championships is now the largest international event in the world and is unique for its international representation and cultural diversity.

It all began in February 1968 when John W Brown,  A.S. "Lou" Smith, and Norrie West decided the San Diego Junior Golf Association would host the very first Junior World Golf Championship tournament. The three had dreamed of organizing a tournament where juniors from all parts of the world could come together to play golf and share in cultural exchange.

The following is taken from the 1968 Junior World Program created by Norrie West:

The idea behind the Junior World Golf Championships is simply "YOUTH." The San Diego County Junior Golf Association is founded on the principle of serving young people, in the hope that by doing so today's youth will have a better chance of creating the world we all want. The Junior World tournament is an international extension of that principle. We believe that by bringing together young people from all parts of the world and all parts of our nation, we are helping to bring about greater understanding among people of differing cultures and values.

In its inagural year, the event attracted 475 junior golfers from seven countries and 20 states. Today, the tournament has grown to 1250 participants, representing 56 countries and 42 states. The IMG Academcy Junior World Golf Championship is now the largest international event in the world, unique for its international representation and culture.
